Victoria Beckham’s Streamlined Denim Collection
Victoria Beckham, the woman known for her high style and even higher heels has (re)done it again! Her new collection, Victoria Beckham Denim, formally known as dVb, has been revamped and streamlined for Spring 2010 in a major way, dahling. The anchor of the collection is a killer, super skinny cigarette jean which takes a cue from my favorite and yours, the legging (styles of which are also included in the new collection). Simple hardware and punchy washes such as rogue blue and charcoal create a tough, chic jean that goes from the office with a classic blazer to date night with a shrunken leather jacket, skyscraper heels and statement jewels. And for the weekend, (or the girl that prefers a bit of slouch with her swagger) VB has also unveiled her vintage collection, which features boyfriend styles, denim jackets, and shorts. Whether you rock ‘em with her signature shoe—the Tribute—or simply some sneaks, these new styles will be sure to spice up your life.

Optical Genius: Natalia Brilli
It’s a crying shame that this Natalia Brilli leather contact lens travel kit ($220) isn’t available in stores now because it would definitely be on my wish list for Santa. It’s an obvious jet-setting must-have, so I’ll patiently wait until spring to snag one of Brilli’s “rockabilly” pieces of studded leather with the hopes her brilliant creations will save me from my mounting contact lens catastrophes.

Heist Gallery Hosts Stephen Floyd
A funny thing happened to Brooklyn-based artist Stephen Floyd on his drive out to Montana a few years ago. “I was picking up my wife from taxidermy school,” he recalls, “when I noticed all these empty billboards along the highways—they reminded me of blank canvasses.” And just like that, Floyd made some calls, rented some space in remote Colorado (Fairplay, CO, to be specific), blew up two of his playful drawings, each featuring a signature color-blocked cursive script caption, and added yet another medium to an eclectic portfolio that already includes intricate cut-outs, hurricane portraits, and what Floyd is most known for: his self-described “self-indulgent, compulsive” drawings, 64 of which you can view (and purchase) right now at Heist Gallery.
Though Floyd, a Galveston, TX native, may err on the side of modesty when it comes to his work, Heist owner Talia Eisenberg has nothing but praise for the young artist and his deceptively simple approach. “Stephen transforms his (and our) everyday experiences, conversations, dirty jokes, subway ads, and media images into provocative statements,” Eisenberg says. “He does not endeavor to give a moral value to any of his ideas, he simply points out that the[y] exist.”
For a smart, unique art experience without the pretension of man berets, make your way over to the Lower East Side soon and check out Stephen Floyd’s aptly named "I Love America and America Loves Me" exhibit, on display at Heist until December 18th.

Megan Isaacs’ Holiday Party and Trunk Show
This year I’ve vowed to become more creative with my gift giving. Sayonara generic gift cards! Bye-bye scented candles! Adios coupons for free hugs! And hello original, thoughtful presents. To get the ball rolling, I’m stopping by Megan Isaacs' Holiday Party and Trunk Show this weekend (77 Mercer Street, 3-7pm) to check out her latest collection. The young, NYC-based jewelry designer was featured on this week’s episode of Gossip Girl (OMFG) and the beauty department is pining over her Pop Heart Ring Set (hint, hint, wink, wink to all the boyfriends out there).

Wish List: Treesje Cosmetic Bags
I cannot express in words or any other audible equivalent the sound that came out of my mouth when I saw these leather cosmetic bags (it was something like cooing at a baby while simultaneously going down a rollercoaster). They are so gosh darn adorable! And with the holiday party circuit here, they're perfect for my supply of just-in-case-makeup.
